Performance dates are April 4 -13, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. at the Playhouse located at 1800 S. Main Street in Broken Arrow. On Golden Pond, by Ernest Thompson is a play about an aging couple, Ethel and Norman Thayer, who return to their summer home on a lake called Golden Pond. They are soon visited by their estranged daughter Chelsea, accompanied by her new fiancé Bill, and his teenage son Billy Ray Jr. The play explores the often-turbulent relationship shared between Chelsea and her father growing up. As the summer progresses, Norman bonds with Billy Ray Jr, Billy becomes the “grandchild” Norman and Ethel have longed for, and as Norman revels in taking his ward fishing and thrusting good books at him, he also learns some lessons about modern teenage awareness–and slang–in return. The summer encounters ultimately lead to a deeper understanding and reconciliation between the family members as they confront the realities of aging and mortality.
